When Women Create Together

Beginner Crochet Course The Homemade Mothers Learn to Crochet

There is something ancient and sacred about women gathering to make things with their hands. Maybe it’s stitched into our DNA, that deep desire to sit beside another woman, share stories, swap skills, and turn simple materials like yarn into something beautiful. For generations, women have been doing exactly that. Around fires, at kitchen tables, on the balcony watching the children play, in gardens... Creation has always been a communal act. It’s only in modern life that we’ve tried to do everything alone. But the truth is, we’re not meant to mother alone, create alone, or carry the weight of our homes alone. We thrive in connection and in community, our creativity expands when we are witnessed by another woman who understands our world.

Our Friendship: The Beginning of The Homemade Mothers

When we became friends, it wasn’t in some grand moment, it was casual, simple, and real. Two mothers swapping ideas, admiring each other’s crafts, sharing similar values, and realising that our hearts were shaped by the same things, home, creation, tradition, and motherhood.

We didn’t set out to create a brand or a course or a community, we just shared what we loved and we learned from each other and most importantly we started creating together. We cook and bake together, sew together, crochet together, create content together! We have conversations that stretch for hours while our children played alongside us and from that place, The Homemade Mothers was born. Not as a business first, but as a shared desire to make, to teach, to revive lost skills, and to show other mothers just how healing creativity can be.

Finding Your Community of Like-Minded Creative Mothers

If you’ve been longing for a community like this, a place to make, learn, share, and feel understood here are some gentle ways to find your people:

Follow the threads of your interests

Crochet groups, sewing circles, gardening clubs, homemaking pages, local workshops. Your people are already gathering around the things you love.

Share your creativity, even imperfectly

Post your projects, show your progress, talk about what you’re learning, women who resonate will naturally gravitate toward you.

Start small gatherings

Invite one mum for tea while the kids play, host a “bring your craft” morning, start a monthly creative night.

Look for values, not just hobbies

Mothers who value slowness, handmade living, motherhood, home, and creativity will feel like home even if they make different things with their hands.

Why We Built This Space

The Homemade Mothers is our offering to that longing, a place where you don’t have to pretend to be perfect, a place where you can pick up old skills or learn new ones, a place where creativity feels like coming home. Our courses aren’t just about teaching stitches or patterns. They’re about giving women a space to breathe, to grow, to reconnect with themselves, and to find one another. Because when women create together, something beautiful happens, homes get warmer, mothers get calmer, children see creativity lived and enjoyed in real time, and friendships form that feel like medicine for us women. And that’s all we ever hoped to share.

From our hands to yours, welcome to this little community. You belong here.

With love,

Sarah and Tay
